NDA releases manifesto

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Thursday released the National Democratic Alliance's election manifesto for the impending Lok Sabha polls.

He was flanked by Bharatiya Janata Party president M Venkaiah Naidu and NDA convener George Fernandes at the crowded press conference in Delhi.

"We have fulfilled the assurances we had given to the country (in 1999). The results are there for everyone to see. The new agenda would be an agenda for development, good governance and peace," Fernandes said.

Prominent leaders present on the occasion were: Finance Minister Jaswant Singh, Health Minister Sushma Swaraj, BJP general secretary Pramod Mahajan, Nationalist Trinamool

Congress leader Mamata Banerjee, Shiromani Akali Dal leader Prakash Singh Badal, Janata Dal-United leader Digvijay Singh and Kerala Congress (M) leader P C Thomas.
