Omar Abdullah escapes terrorist attack

April 20, 2004 15:45 IST

Terrorists triggered a landmine blast minutes after National Conference president Omar Abdullah's cavalcade passed by in Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday.

No one was injured in the explosion, which took place at around 1310 IST in Hayatpora village.

Abdullah was going to Panzoo to address an election rally, which was cancelled following the blast, sources said.

The attack came a day after terrorists triggered a similar explosion targeting his father and former chief minister Farooq Abdullah's motorcade in Budgam district.
