Just after 20 days, Kumar Bangarappa quits BJP
March 25, 2004 18:50 IST
Kumar Bangarappa has decided to quit the Bharatiya Janata Party just 20 days after he joined it.
The son of former Karnataka chief minister S Bangarappa said he was 'hurt' over the action of his father, who also joined the BJP after quitting the Congress, in promoting his younger brother Madhu Bangarappa for the Sorab assembly seat.
Terming the BJP a 'communal party', Kumar Bangarappa said it had destroyed 'our family' and 'it is going to destroy the country also'.
He said his father had taken a 'wrong decision' in joining the BJP.
Asked about his future course of action, Kumar Bangarappa said it would be decided in the next three or four days. He added his followers were urging him to rejoin the Congress.
Kumar Bangarappa said he would send his resignation letter to the BJP soon.
