A special court in Pune on Thursday remanded prime accused in the stamp paper racket, Abdul Karim Telgi, to 10 days' Central Bureau of Investigation custody.
Telgi, who was brought to the city from Bangalore following a production warrant issued by Special Judge S M Shembole after CBI pressed for his police custody, was produced amidst unprecedented security.
In the last hearing, the CBI, which has taken over the case as per the directions of the Supreme Court, had sought custody of Telgi and other accused for interrogation.
Earlier, the CBI had moved an application seeking police custody of seven accused, including Telgi, Mohammed alias Sajid, Jitendra alias Madar, S Kamleshwari Singh, Parvez Ahmed Saffar Telgi, Khalil Ahmed Khan and Safar Badami.
There is a possibility of the CBI filing a charge sheet against Telgi and others.
