Angry Paswan takes V P Singh to Sonia

May 22, 2004 13:05 IST

Ahead of the swearing-in of a Congress-led coalition government at the Centre, former prime minister V P Singh and Lok Jan Shakti Party leader Ram Vilas Paswan on Saturday met Congress president Sonia Gandhi.

Singh, who played a major role in bringing together regional and Left parties to fight jointly against the Bharatiya Janata Party and its allies in the Lok Sabha election, visited her for the third time after the declaration of the poll results.

It is learnt that Singh is seeking to bring about a compromise as Paswan is cut up about not getting the railways portfolio, which is likely to go Rashtriya Janata Dal's Laloo Prasad Yadav.
