Sadhu Yadav leaves Gopalganj
February 21, 2005 14:21 IST
Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi's controversial brother Anirudh Prasad alias Sadhu Yadav, who has been barred from Gopalganj district, on Monday said his rival are "influencing" the Election Commission.
"Being the LS member from Gopalganj I had the right to stay there both constitutionally and legally. But I don't want to have any confrontation with the administration," Sadhu Yadav, who represents Gopalganj constituency in the Lok Sabha, said before leaving the district.
The EC had on Sunday taken exception to Saran Divisional Commissioner Gopal Shankar Prasad staying the order of Gopalganj District Magistrate K K Pathak barring the RJD leader from the district till the election process was over (Sadhu's wife Indrani Devi is in the fray from Gopalganj assembly constituency as an Independent).
Sadhu Yadav had moved the office of the commissioner against the DM's order, following which Prasad had issued a stay order.
Pathak later approached the EC and subsequently, Prasad had to revoke the stay following the EC's intervention.
When he failed to get any relief, Sadhu Yadav left the district limits accusing the EC of acting "under pressure from my political opponents".
He claimed no case was registered against him in Gopalganj for booth-capturing or intimidation when he had contested the Lok Sabha election.
