Results signal step forward: BJP
February 27, 2005 14:21 IST
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday described its performance in the assembly elections in Bihar and Jharkhand as a 'step forward'.
The party will decide its future course of action after discussing with its allies and its parliamentary board meet later in the day.
"After a poor performance in the last Lok Sabha polls in Bihar and Jharkhand, we have reemerged as a front runner in both these states," said BJP general secretary Arun Jaitley.
He said the National Democratic Alliance's three-fold objective was to emerge as the largest group, end the RJD rule in Bihar and to have 'our own chief minister'.
"We have met two out of our three objectives -- we are emerging as the largest group, we have succeeded to a great extent in removing the RJD, but under the present situation we are unable to have our own CM," Jaitley said.
