February 27, 2005 18:26 IST

Congress president Sonia Gandhi has convened a meeting of senior party leaders in New Delhi on Sunday evening to review the outcome of the state assembly polls, party sources said.

The meeting is also set to finalise the party's strategy in Bihar and Jharkhand, where the verdict is fractured.

Senior leaders Ahmed Patel, Ambika Soni, Arjun Singh, M L Fotedar, Janardan Dwivedi and Harikesh Bahadur are expected to attend the meeting, the sources said.

Singh and Fotedar were party's strategists for Bihar and Jharkhand, while Dwivedi and Bahadur were in charge of the three states, including Haryana, during the elections.

The party president will also meet Bhajan Lal, Selja and Surjewala who are the main contenders for the chief minister's pos in Haryana, where the Congress secured a two-thirds majority.

Another Haryana chief ministerial aspirant Bhupendra Singh Hooda met party general secretary Ambika Soni. He is expected to meet Sonia later on Sunday.
