A large number of Bharatiya Janata Party leaders and workers unhappy with the selection of candidates and the seat sharing agreement with the Janata Dal (United) for the Bihar Assembly polls on Tuesday threatened to float a regional outfit on January 31.

They virtually made state BJP chief Gopalnarayan Singh a hostage for over an hour in the party office and exchanged heated words with him.

They shouted slogans against the state BJP leadership. They also warned that the BJP was losing ground due to paper tigers, like Sushil Kumar Modi, Ravi Shankar Prasad and Rajiv Pratap Rudy.

"We have called a meeting of BJP leaders and workers here [in Patna] on January 30 and we will float a separate outfit," said Shailendra Kumar, an angry leader.

BJP is contesting 105 Assembly seats and JD (U), 138 seats.

Earlier, the workers burnt effigy of party vice-president and member of Parliament Sushil Kumar Modi for his role in the selection of 'wrong' candidates.
