Jharkhand: Govt decides against Presidential reference
March 11, 2005 14:22 IST
The Union government is understood to have decided against making a Presidential reference on the Supreme Court's order in the Jharkhand assembly case.
The Supreme Court on Wednesday had ordered the Shibu Soren-led government in Jharkhand to prove its majority on the floor of the House on March 11.

Jharkhand Governor Syed Sibtey Razi, who had, in a controversial decision, invited Soren to form the government when the Bharatiya Janata Party-led National Democratic Alliance appeared to have the numbers in its favour, had fixed March 15 for the trial of strength. The SC order came on a petition filed by former Jharkhand chief minister Arjun Munda challenging Razi's decision to invite Soren to form the government in the state.
