Village warrior
Kundan (Sunil Shetty) is a village blacksmith who hopes his beloved younger brother Krishna will grow up to something other than the village hick. But caught between some very extreme extremists and policemen, he heads for some peace, quiet and work in Bombay. Kundan meets that impossibility, an honest lawyer (Om Puri), who gives him shelter. The lawyer's daughter (Pooja Batra) helps younger brother get admission in school. Kundan learns the city is no better since the underworld is prospering here too, to the detriment of the poor, crushed populace. Kundan meets News (Sonali Bendre) who teaches him to drive an autorickshaw. She also tries to teach him some other things he apparently isn't interested in. The underworld gains ground and the honest lawyer forces the authorities to reopen a criminal case against one big don, David (Ashish Vidyarthi), no relation, of course, to Ibrahim abroad. Mad as a hornet, David gets the lawyer bumped off. Conveniently, Kundan's younger brother is the only witness, making him ideal cannon fodder. Kader Khan, playing an honest police inspector (ooh, can't take this much longer) tries to help Kundan out and begins admiring his incredible naivete. Then David's men finally find Krishna. Brother dead, Kundan's dreams are shattered. He, in turn, bumps off the killers who, coincidentally, perhaps, was not much admired in the neighbourhood. So Kundan becomes the hero of the poor and revels in the name Bhai. New image acquired, he settles down to married life with ex-lawyer's daughter and patering a young one. But the ungodly, decidedly jealous of Kundan's popularity, close ranks and decide to snuff him for purely professional and personal reasons. It is now up to Kundan Bhai to knock off every goon in Bombay city, and make it the nice, kindly place it was. Can he do it? Check out the movie even if you have the answers.
