Subhash Chandra takes charge of Zee operations
BS Corporate Bureau in Mumbai Subhash Chandra, the patriarch of the Zee group, has assumed full charge of day-to-day operations at Zee Telefilms, the groups flagship company. A statement issued by the company said, "Zee Telefilms has announced that Subhash Chandra, chairman, Zee Telefilms, will directly provide leadership to a three-pronged strategic direction chalked out by the company." Sandeep Goyal, group broadcasting CEO, who was brought in last year for a reported salary of Rs 1.2 crore (Rs 12 million), has been redesignated advisor to the company, and is going on a "sabbatical for the next few months." According to the press statement today, Chandra will support and guide the core team comprising Apurva Purohit, president of the Zee TV channel, Prashant Sanwal, director of the Alpha channels, Laxmi N Goel, director, Zee News, Yogesh Radhakrishnan, director, Zee Music and Zee Cinema, Jagjit Singh Kohli, director, ETC brands, and Ajay Trigunayat, vice-president, Zee English and Zee MGM. The move is aimed at focusing "on programming excellence, multi-pillar channel approach built around the Zee TV flagship and building operational efficiencies to drive shareholder value." A statement from the company quoting Subhash Chandra said: "Sandeep brought new energy into the channel and I am pleased that he will continue to be available to Zee for any help or advice." With shareholders keenly tracking the fortunes of the network on a point-to-point basis rather than simple end-of-the-day returns, it is critical that we look at the products we put on air in terms of returns to the shareholder.
