Tata Indicom, which is to launch its Code Division Multiple Access-based wireless in local loop services in Mumbai on Wednesday, has priced it below that of its competitor, Reliance Infocomm.

The Tata group firm, which would rollout plans of 295 and above, offers a payment instalment choice of Rs 199 for a period of 24 months.

The company has released four new tariff plans for its CDMA mobile services -- Plan 295, Plan 450, Plan 599 & Plan 999.

Company officials revealed the tariff plan to shareholders at a specially set up Tata Indicom stall at Tata Power Company's annual general body meeting in Mumbai on Monday.

Reliance Infocomm, which has plans of 249 and above, offers a payment option of Rs 200 per month for 36 months.

Both the companies have no entry level pricing, while Tata Indicom would be offering lowest upfront and recurring costs, the company sources told PTI.

While Reliance is offering up to Rs 350 bill credit in the first month as "extra" benefits, that of Tata Indicom range from Rs 199 for the first two months and additional

100 minutes for local calls per month for six months, the shareholders were told.

Tata Indicom's extra benefits also include special International Long Distance rates of Rs 6 to select destinations for six months (for which an ILD security deposit of Rs 1,000 would be charged) and free SMS for three months, the officials said.

Indicom would offer Motorola Jupiter, Kyocera 2235, Nokia and other handsets on instalment basis, while Reliance offers only LG and Samsung handsets.

Tata Indicom services would offer the connections through Tata Teleservices Ltd and franchise outlets, while the logistics of Reliance are strictly through Reliance Web Worlds.

While Reliance has around 3.5 million shareholders to whom the company offers services at privileged schemes, Tata Indicom targets its over one million shareholders in TTSL circles and has plans to include the shareholders of Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd.

Tata Indicom based its rates for CDMA to CDMA and CDMA to fixed line on a 15 second pulsing, while CDMA to cellular had been priced on a 60 second billing circle.

Reliance has a flat 60 second-billing for all calls originating from the CDMA networks.
