Data Access places Rs 1-bn equity in overseas fund

June 18, 2004 18:13 IST

International long distance operator Data Access Ltd has placed Rs 100 crore private equity in a consortium of overseas private equity funds, a senior company official said.

Further details regarding the equity stake involved in the deal are not known.

The move comes close on the heels of Data Access's IPO being deferred under certain queries from Sebi about three months back. Sidhharth Ray-promoted Data Access had to put off its IPO on market regulator Sebi's queries in March this year.

The capital market watchdog had asked the company not to proceed with its equity issues until it evaluates its replies in relation to the queries raised by it.

The company claims to have a 30 per cent marketshare of India's ISD market with in-bound calls accounting for 100-110 million minutes per a month of a total 300 million minutes per month and outbound calls accounting for 9.5-10 million minutes per month of 80 million minutes per month.
