Bharti, Wipro in talks for BPO deal
May 10, 2004 16:41 IST
Bharti Tele-Ventures, the largest private cellular operator in India, is in talks with leading third party business process outsourcing company Wipro Spectramind for outsourcing its call centre operations.
"We are talking to Wipro Spectramind to outsource our call centre operations," Sunil Mittal, Bharti Group chairman and managing director, said in New Delhi.
Asked about the size of the deal, Mittal declined to elaborate saying, "Negotiations are still on."
He indicated that Bharti would also be talking to IBM as it has acquired Daksh, another BPO company, for handling its call centre enquiry services.
A significant portion of Bharti's pre-paid card operations has already been outsourced to small agencies.
For post-paid subscribers, the entire operations are handled in-house, and for the high-end customers within the post-paid category Bharti has created a special cell manned by specially trained employees.
Last month, Bharti had outsourced its entire IT operations to IBM in a deal worth $750 million for a period of ten years.
