Aamir's calling the shotsAamir's calling the shots

Wonder what Aamir Khan has up his sleeve?

Despite the success of Lagaan and Dil Chahta Hai, Khan's basket is empty.

Aamir has even walked out of cousin Mansoor Khan's Happy Diwali for ABCL productions, for reasons best known to him.

Some say he was unhappy with the script; others insist he was put off by company policy.

Sources close to Aamir have a different story to tell: After the success of Lagaan, the actor feels he needs to do a bigger, better project. They also add that in all probability Aamir might just end up directing the film.

Postcards from LA

Director Mahesh Manjrekar In case you thought Mahesh Manjrekar, currently in LA for Sanjay Gupta’s Kaante, spends all his free time chatting away with co-stars or sightseeing, you're mistaken.

The director's free time is spent penning the script of his new film, a sequel to Vaastav, which is scheduled to go on floors as soon as he returns to Indian soil.

Mahesh faxes the script to his assistants, who then begin working on the dialogues.

Hair to stay!

The success of Dil Chahta Hai has gone to Akshaye Khanna's head... literally.

For DCH has convinced the actor to rectify the bald patch that adorned his palate.

Friends had suggested hair transplants, a la Sunny Deol, earlier, but Akshaye was adamant.

Now, after his next film (producer Nitin Manmohan's Deewangee), he can boast of a head full of hair.

Two's a company, three's a crowd

Ajay Devgan and Kajol Ram Gopal Varma's unit for Company, who has just completed the outdoor shooting schedule, is abuzz with tales linking hero Ajay Devgan and leading lady Manisha Koirala.

Adding fuel to the fire is Manisha's highly publicised split with boyfriend Crispin Conroy. Perhaps Ajay was only helping Manisha get over the depression.

But Kajol hasn't taken too kindly to the gossip. She's keen to accompany her husband on location, though Ajay insists that she stay behind in Bombay and concentrate on their software-producing business.

Acting lessons for Priyanshu

Wonder what lessons director Anubhav Sinha gave Priyanshu all through the making of Tum Bin?

Tum Bin The actor has flown to New York for a short-term acting course.

Anubhav Sinha crowed about how he coached his protégées, all through the making of Tum Bin, which marked Priyanshu’s debut. And he went on saying that Priyanshu didn't need any lessons, as he was a natural.

Now, it seems like the training grounds wasn’t great considering Priyanshu has gone off to undo the harm done and learn afresh. Wonder what Sinha has to say?

Bachchans' double standards

Prior to the release of Aks, Amitabh Bachchan went into raptures at the mere mention of the film's director Rakesh Mehra.

So impressed were the Bachchans with the product that they had announced their plans of commencing a film with Rakesh which was to star the Bachchan clan, Amitabh, Jaya and Abhishek.

But the fate of the film has altered many of those decisions. For, Rakesh Mehra does not feature in Amitabh's post-Aks plans.

Mahesh Manjrekar is AB's new muse now, as his film stars the father-son duo.

This is not a new trait with the Bachchans. They praise the person sky high pre-release and change the tune, post-release depending on the fate of the film.
