Metikonda Muralikrishna, who produced the blockbuster Narasimha Naidu -- directed by B Gopal and starring Nandamuri Balakrishna -- repeats the duo in his next film, Palnati Brahmanaidu. Muralikrishna has invested heavily in his soon-to-be-released film. He explained he could not 'compromise' on the cost since he was 'aware of the high expectations' from him after Narasimha Naidu.
The film also stars Sonali Bendre and Aarti Agarwal.
It was Balakrishna who suggested the title Palnati Brahmanaidu. "We felt this title would be apt since my character is inspired by the legendary ruler, Brahmanaidu, who fought for equality," explained the star.
Balakrishna, who praised Sonali's performance, said she reminded him of Bhanumati in Palnaati Yudham. That film was about a mistress (Bhanumati) who poisoned the mind of a king against his loyal minister (the late N T Rama Rao). The confrontation scenes between the two artistes are still talked about. Balakrishna says his film will have similar confrontations between him and Sonali.
Sonali said she had never attempted such a role before.
Aarti, who worked with Balakrishna for the first time in her career, claimed her role was significant. She added, "I enjoyed working with Balakrishna."
Director B Gopal, who has delivered four hits with Balakrishna, including Lorry Driver, Rowdy Inspector, Samarasimha Reddy and Narasimha Naidu, says the star will be a major draw, "His performance is mind-blowing."
