Karunanidhi poopoohs Muthiah's threatTamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today laughed away Union Surface Transport Minister Sedapatti R Muthiah's statement that the All India Anna DMK MPs would demand reopening of the Sarkaria Commission and filing of chargesheet against him (Karunanidhi) on the basis of the Commission's report. Talking to newsmen at the airport in Madras before leaving for New Delhi, he said Muthiah was angry with him for "some reasons". (Muthiah has been chargesheeted in a special court for amassing wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income). Referring to AIADMK general secretary J Jayalalitha's reported call to her partymen to send telegrams to President K R Narayanan, demanding dismissal of the DMK government in the state, Karunanidhi said he was happy that she had given such instructions. On Union Petroleum Minister Vazhapadi K Ramamurthy's assertion that the Jain Commission's final report, exonerating the DMK from the charge of involvement in the conspiracy behind the Rajiv Gandhi assassination, was influenced by the previous United Front government at the Centre, he said only Ramamurthy would know whether a commission of inquiry could be influenced. He said he was unaware of the findings in the final report. UNI
