For the Congress's A Sai Prathap, it has been a hat-trick since 1989. Hardly surprising in a constituency that has overwhelmingly voted in favour of the party, which even won this seat uncontested in 1957. Its share of the vote, which was 51.9 and 57.59 % in 1989 and 1991, fell to 48.42 in 1996, however.
