Saurashtra, Kutch await cycloneHeavy rain is likely at a few places in the western parts of Saurashtra and Kutch during the next 48 hours. (Click for report on the Gujarat cyclone.) Heavy rainfall is also likely at isolated places in south Rajasthan and eastern parts of Saurashtra and Kutch during the same period. Rain or thundershowers are likely at most of the places in Saurashtra and Kutch, at many places in south Rajasthan, Kerala and Lakshadweep, at a few places in north Rajasthan, Konkan, Goa, central Maharashtra and coastal Karnataka, and at isolated places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, West Bengal, Sikkim, coastal Orissa, Bihar, Haryana, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashsmir, Marathwada, Telangana, Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu and interior Karnataka. Mainly dry weather will prevail over the rest of the country. Heat wave conditions prevailed in Rajasthan and in parts of Haryana, and of north Madhya Pradesh. Day temperatures were appreciably above normal in Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir and in parts of West Bengal, and were above normal in the remaining parts of north Madhya Pradesh and in parts of south Tamil Nadu. They were appreciably to markedly below normal in Bihar, south central Maharashtra and in parts of north Orissa, Gujarat, Saurashtra, Marathwada and of south interior Karnataka, and were below normal in east Uttar Pradesh and in parts of Telangana and of north Tamil Nadu. They were normal over the rest of the country outside Arunachal Pradesh and west Uttar Pradesh from where the data was sparse. Strong winds, with speed reaching 200-240 km per hour, are likely in the districts of Kutch, Jamnagar and Porbandar during the next 24 hours. Strong winds, with speed of 100-120 km per hour are also likely in the remaining districts of Saruashtra and Kutch during the same period. Rain or thundershowers occurred at many places in Konkan and Goa, Kerala and Laksahdweep, at a few places in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Orissa, Bihar plains, east Uttar Pradesh, central Maharashtra, Rayalseema and south interior Karnataka, and at isolated places in Assam, Meghalaya and Himachal Pradesh. Very light rain also occurred at isolated places in Bihar plateau, coastal Andhra Pradesh and coastal Karnataka. Mainly dry weather prevailed over the rest of the country.
