Gujarat faces cyclone threat againGujarat faces the threat of cyclone again. The massive cyclonic storm -- which had reportedly weakened after threatening Gujarat for two days -- is likely to hit the coastal strip between Jakhau and Koteshwar in Kutch district late in the evening before moving to Pakistan. In a curious turn of events, the eye of the cyclonic storm in the Arabian Sea resurfaced this afternoon, about 50 kilometres off Jakhau port. According to the latest weather reports, Naliya town was being lashed by strong winds - reaching a speed of 150 kilometres per hour -- since this morning. The town had already recorded about 150 mm of rainfall. All village reservoirs in the area were now overflowing. Similar reports from the entire coastal belt including the western-most Lakhpat taluka suggest that it was a symptom of the approaching cyclone. UNI
