PM to address post-Tehelka rally in Bangalore on Thursday

Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee will address in Bangalore on Thursday the second of the NDA's post-Tehelka rallies to counter the Opposition's offensive on the issue.

Significantly, Congress president Sonia Gandhi has in March vowed at the party's Plenary Session to 'wage every battle and make every sacrifice to rid' the country of the NDA government.

Bracing the NDA for the battle ahead, Vajpayee has already declared that the alliance would not be found wanting to fight 'the war' which the Congress had declared on his government.

Vajpayee will fly into Bangalore in the afternoon to fulfil the only engagement of addressing the rally where the star speakers include former defence minister George Fernandes.

State BJP leaders said the rally would counter the 'malicious propaganda' of the Opposition and 'project the correct' picture before the people.

However, JD(U), a major constituent of the NDA in Karnataka, has decided to boycott the rally, cut up as it is for not being informed about the programme and taken into confidence.

The Bangalore rally will be followed by those in Bombay, Lucknow and Bhubaneswar.
