DMK functionary killed,
two assailants shot dead

According to the police, 30-year-old Suresh was attacked with sickles by a group of people when he was coming out of the party office accompanied by some associates at Ammalpettai on Friday evening.

Suresh succumbed to injuries while being taken to a hospital while the other party worker was admitted to a nearby hospital, police said.

Meanwhile, the police swung into action to trace the assailants and spotted four of them in a cashew garden in Pottuchavadi village washing the blood stained sickles and clothes.

Two of them managed to escape while the other two were shot dead when they tried to attack the police team, police added.
