At least nine people were killed and over 33 injured in the early hours of Saturday when a state-owned bus in which they were travelling collided with two lorries near Thekkalur, about 40 km from Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu.
Police said the bus was on its way from Coimbatore to Salem when the mishap occurred at around 0300 hrs.
Twenty of the injured were admitted to the Kovai Medical Centre. Their condition was serious, hospital sources said.
