Indefinite curfew was imposed and security forces were deployed in Poonch and Surankote town of Jammu region following the killings of two Hindu priests by unidentified militants on Monday night.
The militants had beheaded the two priests who belonged to a temple in Surankote, police sources told rediff.com
The police recovered the bodies of the priests on Tuesday morning.
As news of the killing spread, angry protestors in Poonch came out shouting slogans. Tension also gripped Surankote, where the locals made an attempt to take the two bodies to Poonch.
Curfew was imposed and security forces were deployed in the two areas to diffuse the tension.
"We have made elaborate security arrangements to maintain law and order. Tension is high in Poonch," a senior police officer said.
Meanwhile, two more bodies were recovered by the police from the nearby Pamrote village. Details were awaited, the police said.
