Jayalalithaa, Karunanidhi condole Moopanar's death

Leaders of various political parties in Tamil Nadu on Thursday condoled the demise of Tamil Maanila Congress chief G K Moopanar.

Expressing grief, Chief Minister and All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief J Jayalalithaa described Moopanar as a gentleman and said his death was an irreparable loss.

She said Moopanar was respected by one and all and was one of the few political leaders in the state who exhibited immense patience under any kind of circumstances.

The chief minister said when she called on him two weeks ago, Moopanar had told her that both TMC and AIADMK should face the coming local body polls together.

Recalling his long friendship with Moopanar, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief M Karunanidhi said the TMC leader had extended his hands of friendship to all.

He said Moopanar was very affectionate to him and his family.

Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president E V K S Elangovan said Moopanar was a leading light of the Congress movement and had contributed in a major way to the growth of the party at the national level.
