Tearful adieu to Rajya Sabha security officer

Several Members of Parliament and Parliament staff on Friday bade a tearful farewell to Rajya Sabha security assistant J P Yadav who was killed by terrorists during an attack on Parliament House on Thursday.

The body of 32-year-old Yadav was brought in a coffin to Parliament House on Friday afternoon from the hospital after post-mortem, and later taken by road to his native village in Rajasthan for the last rites.

Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairperson Najma Heptulla and Parliament staff laid wreaths on the coffin and paid their last respects.

Yadav was shot dead by the terrorists when he challenged them.

He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter. He had joined the watch and ward department of Rajya Sabha in 1995.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee also complimented the security personnel for the exemplary courage and valour shown during the suicide attack on Parliament.
