India rejects Pak suggestion on UN determining ultras involvement

"We do not need any prescription from Pakistan. We are a sovereign country and whatever action we need to take would be based on our considered assessment of the situation," an external affairs ministry spokesperson said reacting to Pakistan Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar's suggestion.

External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh had clearly stated that whatever actions New Delhi was taking were in conformity with international obligations, she said.

The spokesperson said several countries had expressed support to New Delhi in its resolve to root out terrorism.

To a question whether India would consider returning the bodies of five terrorists as they were identified as Pakistani nationals, she said "I do not think that is our intention. They were not soldiers or unsung heroes. They were terrorists and terrorism is a crime."

Asked whether the SAARC summit would take place in view of the tension in the sub-continent, she said, "As of now, there is no change in that situation."
