'Terrorists were expecting to stay in Parliament for some time'

With an intention to kill as many VVIPs as possible, the five Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists, who stormed Parliament on December 13, had planned to stay inside the complex for quite some days as evidenced by their carrying a good quantity of dry fruits, Delhi police sources said on Wednesday.

"Sure that they would be holed up inside, they carried with them the dry fruits to sustain them through a longer time," the sources said.

Quoting results of interrogation of the four arrested associates of the terrorists, the sources said the attackers carried dry fruits with them as they were 'clear in their minds that they could go in but would not be able to come out easily because of the security apparatus'.

However, as their leader was killed by security forces, the other four terrorists got confused, they said.

Compounding their confusion was the immediate action by the security staff of Parliament to close all gates of the building, thwarting the terrorists' plan to enter, they said.
