India welcomes US decision to freeze assets of LeT

This was stated by External Affairs Minister Jaswant Singh after a 90-minute 'informal' meeting of the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), which reviewed the security situation and the subsequent investigation.

The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, also reviewed the international security scenario.

A discussion was held on India's demand that Pakistan should ban the Jaish-e-Mohammad and LeT and bring the culprits, responsible for the strike on Parliament, to book, he said.

Besides Jaswant Singh, Home Minister L K Advani, Defence Minister George Fernandes, chiefs of the armed forces and top security officials also attended the meeting.
