Dipendra's marriage plans led
to royal massacre: Paras

Crown Prince Dipendra had a heated argument with his parents over his plans to marry Devyani Rana before he shot them, the official report into Nepal's royal massacre has revealed.

The report quotes Prince Paras, son of the new King Gyanendra, as saying that the family's opposition to Dipendra's marriage plans led to the killings.

"As far as I am concerned, the motive was the marriage," Paras told the commission. "This must be the main cause."

Paras said that on the night of the shootings, Dipendra had told him that the issue of the marriage had been raised again.

"He seemed to be drunk, but was in a very good mood," Paras told the commission. "We never thought this would happen."

The report also talks about the relationship that Dipendra and his alleged girlfriend Devyani Rana shared.
