India on Monday charged Pakistan with violating the understanding reached at Agra by raking up the Kashmir issue at the Durban Conference Against Racism and said this was not conducive for improving bilateral relations.
"Obviously, Pakistan is not abiding by the understanding" reached by the two countries in this regard, an external affairs ministry spokesperson told reporters in response to questions.
Pakistan Foreign Minister Abdul Sattar attacked India at Durban and accused New Delhi of "brutal repression" in the Valley.
"We have seen the self-serving comments of the Pakistan foreign minister. India has a secular Constitution and respects all religions," the MEA spokesperson said.
She said that Sattar "gratuitously overlooks that there are more followers of the noble faith of Islam in India than in Pakistan."
