This was stated at a meeting of the apex committee for implementation of the Udhampur-Baramulla railway line project, chaired by state Chief Secretary Ashok Jaitly in Jammu on Tuesday.
The chief secretary directed the divisional commissioners of Kashmir and Jammu, besides the deputy commissioners concerned, to resolve legal hurdles so that work on execution of the prestigious project is speeded up.
He stressed both the revenue and railway authorities should make joint inspections for taking on-the-spot decisions to resolve disputes or problems coming in the way of land acquisition expeditiously.
Railway authorities told the meeting that the execution of the project was being monitored by the Centre at various levels.
They said Rs three billion (Rs 300 crore) has been made available this year for expediting work on this project of national importance.
