Special Judge P Anbazhagan on Wednesday acquitted all four accused, including four IAS officers, in the third 'TANSI land deal case', in which, unlike the earlier two, former Tamil Nadu chief minister and ruling AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa is not involved.
"The prosecution had failed to prove the charges against the accused," Anbazhagan said while dismissing what is otherwise known as the 'TANSI-RR Industries case', involving near-similar sale of TANSI property to a private enterprise.
Among those acquitted on Wednesday were RR Industries owner R Ravi, then TANSI chairman and senior IAS officer T S Srinivivasan and K Karpoorasundara Pandian, another IAS officer attached to the chief minister's office when Jayalalithaa was in power.
Earlier, Anbazhagan had convicted and sentenced Jayalalitha and some others in two cases relating to TANSI property.
An appeal was filed against the verdict in the Madras high court. Recently, Jayalalithaa and other accused were acquitted after a new set of public prosecutors were appointed after the AIADMK came to power.
