Police on Sunday foiled a major sabotage plan by Hizbul Mujahideen militants to trigger serial blasts across Jammu city on the eve of Republic Day with the arrest of two top ultras of the outfit with RDX, a senior police official said.
Police arrested two top Hizbul militants, trained in Pakistan, from the outskirts of the city and recovered two pistols, one-and-a-half kg of RDX and some other ammunition, district police chief Farooq Khan told reporters in Jammu.
The militants, identified as Mohammad Shafi alias Shahid-ul-Islam and Bashir Ahmed alias Omer of Budgam area of Kashmir valley, were asked by Hizb's Budgam district commander to trigger serial blasts in the winter capital on or on the eve of January 26 and disturb the Republic Day celebrations, Khan said.
