Slight reduction in tension with India: Pakistan

"The real de-escalation and reduction in tension will take place only when the Indian forces deployed in forward positions in an offensive posture are withdrawn from the border," foreign office spokesman Aziz Ahmed Khan told the BBC on Friday.

He, however, said it was still difficult to say how long it would take to bring in complete de-escalation and how durable it will be.

"We are gratified that the international community is paying attention and they are trying to defuse the situation and reduce tension," he said.

He also said that, in the current circumstances, the Indian proposal for joint border patrolling will not work.

However, Khan did not rule out the possibility either saying, "The modalities need to be discussed."
