Trade Union Front to oppose P K Dhumal
February 13, 2003 20:03 IST
The newly formed Himachal Pradesh Employees Trade Union Front on Thursday said it would oppose the Prem Kumar Dhumal government in the February 26 assembly election.
The Front, comprising employees' unions of a number of public sector undertaking and seven district units of NGO's Federation, said that the 'puppet unions' supported by the government had failed to safeguard the interests of the employees.
At a press conference Shimla, Front convenor Chander Singh Mandyal criticised the government for its failure to implement the pension scheme for employees of boards and corporation.
He claimed that the government was squeezing out jobs under the garb of downsizing the administration and had put a ban on creation of new jobs and filling up of vacant posts.
The policy for regularisation of daily wagers was not being implemented and thousands of employees with more than 10 years of service were waiting regularisation, he said.
