February 24, 2003 11:30 IST

Militants of the banned United Liberation Front of Asom on Sunday night hurled mortar bombs near the Indian Air Force station in Guwahati, but there was no casualty.

The IAF station is located near the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport and this was the third such attack by the ULFA militants in the city in recent months.

An operation was launched to track down the militants, Guwahati (City) Superintendent of Police Hiren Nath said.
