New J&K governor swearing-in on June 4

Onkar Singh in New Delhi | June 02, 2003 16:04 IST

Lt Gen (retired) S K Sinha is expected to take over as Jammu and Kashmir governor on June four, a top Raj Bhavan official told rediff.com on phone from Srinagar.

J&K high court Chief Justice V K Jhanji will administer the oath of office and secrecy at a simple ceremony in the Raj Bhavan on Wednesday at 1700 IST.

General Sinha would take over from G C Saxena whose term ended on May one. The duo is to fly from Delhi to Srinagar on Wednesday by a special flight.

General Sinha returned to Delhi a fortnight back after a trip to Europe and the United States of America to meet his children.

He had then proceeded to Assam and was scheduled to return to Delhi on Monday.

So far, no central leader has announced plans to attend the swearing-in ceremony.
