Pak still amassing jehadis across LoC: DIA
June 19, 2003 22:29 IST
Pakistan is still keeping amassed large batches of jehadi elements in 'launching pads' on its side of the Line of Control for infiltration into Jammu and Kashmir, country's Defence Intelligence Agency Chief Lieutenant General Kamal Dawar said on Thursday.
He said there has been no 'perceptible change' in the crossing pattern on the LoC.
Briefing newsmen on Wednesday night on the developments in the DIA, which was set up as a services intelligence coordinating body two years ago under the Integrated Defence Staff, Dawar said Pakistan was hoodwinking the international community by shifting terrorist training camps into Pakistan-occupied Kashmir and a large number of jehadis were waiting to be pushed across the Line of Control.
He said 182 terrorists had been killed in last two months in Jammu and Kashmir and said the pattern of pushing in militants under the cover of Pakistan army shelling had resumed.
Describing the recently launched large scale anti-militancy operation Sarp Vinash a 'roaring success', the DIA chief said along with this a number of other operations had been started to keep the heat on militants.
