Six more persons were arrested on Tuesday night for allegedly having links with the main accused, Mufti Sufiyan Patangiya, in the murder of former Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya.
A press release issued by the Gujarat Police on Wednesday said officials got information during their interrogation of 'ISI agents' arrested earlier that Azgar Pervez Sidiq Mohammed and Farouk Sheikh were involved in the conspiracy and would visit Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad soon.
When the two turned up in Bapunagar, crime branch officials arrested them and recovered a cache of .12 bore ammunition and a crude gun.
Based on the information provided by the duo, another team of crime branch sleuths nabbed Mohammed Hussain Gulab Hussain Sheikh and Maulvi Ahmed Hussain Allarakha Mansuri from different areas of the city. Officials recovered a country made weapon from possession of Hussain, the release said.
Crime branch, which is also probing the involvement of the underworld in Surat in Pandya's murder, detained a Mufti identified as Mohammed Tahir Asifbhai for questioning.
