Arrest in Anna Lindh murder case
September 17, 2003 03:41 IST
The Swedish Police have taken into custody a man suspected of murdering Foreign Minister Anna Lindh, Swedish Radio said.
The police have been under intense public and media pressure for their handling of the murder case.
The suspect, according to The Globe and Mail, was captured in a restaurant in Solna, a suburb of the capital Stockholm.
Earlier, the police had said they had a profile of the murderer.
Authorities have said the September 10 attack did not appear to be politically motivated, though Lindh, who did not have bodyguards, was a prominent supporter of adopting the single European currency. Swedish voters overwhelmingly rejected the euro in Sunday's referendum.
