Alert: PhD in finance and economics

The Institute for Financial Management and Research, Chennai, invites applications for their PhD programme in finance and economics (full-time degree awarded by the University of Madras).
IFMR is an autonomous institute established in 1970 by ICICI with industry support. The University of Madras has granted affiliation to the institute to prepare students for its PhD degree. The institute has undertaken MDPs, Consultancy, Research and Publications for over three decades. It also manages the ICICI Research Centre.
IFMR currently offers a two-year full-time and three-year part-time postgraduate diploma in management, with specialisations in Finance, Marketing, HR and Operations & IT. In addition, the institute offers a one-year full-time master's level programme in Advanced Finance.
Programme highlights
Selected candidates will undergo course work during the first two years of the programme and only successful candidates will be allowed to continue. They will also assist the faculty in research and teaching.
Eligibility
First class post-graduates in any discipline. Chartered accountants are also eligible to apply. The programme demands a good knowledge of quantitative and computing skills. Only candidates with such exposure need apply.
Selection
Short-listed candidates will be required to appear for a selection test and interview to be held at institute during the last week of June.
Fees
Application forms can be downloaded from the Web site. The completed form, along with copies of mark sheets of all the examinations, degree certificates and other credentials and a demand draft of Rs 600 favouring the 'Institute for Financial Management and Research' payable at Chennai, should reach the Institute by June 21.
