The second round of the crucial Centre-Hurriyat talks is likely to be held in Delhi on March 27.

The Hurriyat leadership is scheduled to meet in Srinagar early next week to decide whether to continue holding parleys with the government in view of recent incidents of alleged human rights violations by security forces.

Sources in the home ministry said Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchand Advani will be returning to the capital on March 26 after completing the first phase of the Bharat Uday Yatra and the talks could be held the very next day before he moves to Gujarat for filing his nomination paper for the forthcoming Lok Sabha polls.

Track-II diplomatic efforts were underway to clear the decks for holding of talks on March 27. The Hurriyat leaders, who have been raising their serious concerns about violation of human rights in the Kashmir valley, have been assured of tough measures in case of any violations by security forces.

The concerns of Hurriyat about the human rights seemed to have calmed after the Centre, including Advani himself, issued strict instructions to ensure that rights of civilians were respected.

The Hurriyat meeting will discuss threadbare all the steps taken by the state and central government to prevent any violations of human rights. A decision on continuing the talks would be taken during the meeting, Hurriyat sources said.

The Hurriyat Conference would also have to think of a replacement to Fazal-haq Qureshi, who decided to pull out of the talks following threat from militant groups.

The first meeting between Advani and the  Hurriyat Conference was held on January 22.
