October 21, 2004 10:15 IST

A group of six armed bandits robbed the passengers of the Delhi-bound Brahmaputra Express of their cash and valuables late on Wednesday night, police said.

The robbers entered the second-class sleeper coach at Allahabad and began snatching cash and valuables from the passengers, police said, adding that some passengers were beaten up when they resisted.

The bandits escaped after pulling the chain near Fatehpur station.

An FIR has been lodged with the Government Railway Police at the Kanpur Central station.
