Infiltration in Jammu and Kashmir [Images] has gone down by 30 percent in the last five to six months, Director General of Military Intelligence Lt Gen Richard Khare said in Shillong on Monday.

This was possible primarily because of better surveillance system equipped with laser devices and thermal imaging, he said.

Khare was in Shillong in connection with the biennial conference of the Five Gorkha Rifles, of which he is the colonel commandant.

The armed corps in Jammu and Kashmir is receiving counter-insurgency training, he said.

Counter insurgency training is also being planned for non-commissioned officers at Bengdubi near Siliguri, DGMI added.
