Six Pakistani militants were killed on Wednesday in gun battles with the army in Rajouri and Poonch districts of Jammu and Kashmir [Images], defence sources said.
According to the sources, the army launched a search operation at around 0330 IST after receiving information about the presence of Hizbul-Mujahideen Pir Panchal Regiment militants in Budhal forest area of Rajouri.
During the operation, a gun battle opened out, in which four militants were killed.
One of the militants, identified as Abu Salma alias Baddar, was a sector commander of the outfit, the sources said.
According to the sources, three Kalashnikov rifles, two radio sets, three improvised explosive devices, 10 magazines, 13 grenades and some documents were found on the spot.
In Poonch district's Sonari forest, troops shot dead two Lashkar-e-Tayiba militants, the sources said.
Two Kalashnikovs, four magazines and seven grenades were found on the spot.
On Tuesday, the army had killed six LeT militants in Mendhar teshil of Poonch district while they were trying to sneak into India.
