Snowfall and fog continued to affect normal life in various parts of central and northern India on Friday.

Flights to and from Srinagar [Images] -- where temperature dropped to 0.4� Celsius -- were cancelled in view of the heavy snowfall in the Kashmir valley since early Friday, sources said.

According to the meteorological department, Srinagar recorded 6.1 mm of snowfall till 0530 IST.

However, traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway was normal even as 4 to 5 inches of snow accumulated at Qazigund, 80 km from Srinagar.

Reports of moderate to heavy snowfall were also received from Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg.

In Himachal, an avalanche advisory was issued over the tribal areas of Lahaul, Pangi and Spiti, which recorded 10 to 15 cm of snow.

Narkanda and Kufri recorded 30 cm of snow, blocking the Indo-Tibetan national highway.

Parts of Uttar Pradesh like Lucknow and Kanpur recorded 6� C and experienced cold winds.

In Delhi the temperature was a degree below normal at 6.8� C.

The plains of Punjab and Haryana also witnessed chilly conditions with Chandigarh recording its coldest day of the season at 5� C.

Light to moderate rains affected normal life in Rajasthan where Churu recorded the lowest temperature of 3� C.
