The Central Bureau of Investigation has registered four cases against some people in connection with the poaching of tigers in the Sariska tiger reserve.
The cases were registered after the Rajasthan government transferred them to the CBI for a complete investigation, which includes a thorough probe to establish the inter-state ramification of the poaching racket, CBI sources said in New Delhi on Wednesday.
The first case was registered against four people including Hiralal Khatria who had claimed that he had sold tiger parts to poaching kingpin Sansar Chand, arrested recently by the Delhi police and presently in CBI custody.
In the second case, the CBI has named eight people while there are two accused in the third and three in the fourth cases.
CBI sources said all the cases pertained to the poaching of tigers in Sariska tiger reserve.
The cases were registered after the Centre issued a notification to the CBI for carrying out a detailed probe into the entire poaching racket.
All the accused have been booked under the provisions of Wildlife Protection Act of 1972.
