Congress chief Sonia Gandhi [Images] on Friday greeted Dravida Munnettra Kazhagam president M Karunanidhi on his birthday. The DMK chief turned 82.
"In your long years of dedicated public service, you have contributed tremendously to the progress of the nation," Sonia said in a message to the veteran Tamil Nadu politician.
"I pray that we can continue to count on your wisdom, experience and support for many more years to come," she added.
Addressing journalists, Karunanidhi said the people in the state should continue to support the 'secular government' at the Centre and ensure its stability.
Party workers and admirers thronged the DMK headquarters in Chennai to greet Karunanidhi.
